Master-bus editor

Apply the 10-stage studio mastering bus to any sound-bank upload. Pick a preset for sensible defaults, then tune individual stages.

The 10 stages

  1. Hi-pass — linear-phase, default 30 Hz. Removes rumble.
  2. Transformer EQ — Neve-style with 4 bands + drive (~0.15). Adds 3rd-harmonic warmth on each band.
  3. SSL G-bus compressor — 2.5-4:1 ratio, 30/300 ms attack/release, ~3 dB gain reduction on transients. “Glue” for the bus.
  4. Multiband compression — 3 bands (200 Hz / 2 kHz crossover), per-band thresholds. Tames individual ranges without touching the rest.
  5. Harmonic enrichment — per-band saturation (LF: tape, MF: transformer, HF: gentle tube). Optional but on by default.
  6. Stereo width — mid-side widening (~1.5 dB side gain) + Haas delay (~4 ms).
  7. Reverb send — plate or spring (or none), 2-4s decay, 15-30% wet. Plate = smooth shimmer; spring = bounce + boing.
  8. BBD chorus — analog-style chorus, optional.
  9. LUFS normalise — to target_lufs (default -20).
  10. True-peak limiter — 8x-oversampled, -1 dBTP ceiling, 5 ms lookahead, with TPDF dither at 16-bit.

The 5 presets

  • studio-pad-ambient — warm pads. Transformer EQ at 80/240/3k/10k, moderate SSL glue, 3s plate, BBD chorus on.
  • studio-drone-deep — bass drones. Deep EQ (60/200/5k), stronger SSL, 4s spring, heavy LF saturation.
  • studio-bell — bells / gongs. Gentle EQ, NO SSL or multiband (preserves transients), long plate (4-5s), NO chorus.
  • studio-modular — modular synth. Balanced EQ, SSL + multiband, spring reverb, chorus on.
  • studio-binaural-pure — binaural beats. MINIMAL: hi-pass + LUFS
    • limiter only. No EQ, no compression, no reverb. Preserves the exact math the beat depends on.

Critical: when to use studio-binaural-pure

For any track where the audio’s psychoacoustic effect depends on exact frequencies (binaural beats, solfeggio tones, isochronic pulses), apply the binaural-pure preset. Any compression / saturation / reverb breaks the math.

Symptoms of having applied the wrong preset to a binaural track:

  • Beat depth feels weaker
  • The “phantom carrier” in the centre of your head wobbles
  • Gemini judge scores intent_fidelity below 8

Parameters to tune most often

  • target_lufs (-20) — match the catalog
  • ssl.threshold_db — controls how much glue
  • reverb.kind / decay_sec / wet — sets the atmosphere
  • width.side_gain_db — but don’t go above 3 dB (mono fold-down breaks)
